Introduction
AACSearch is a search and discovery platform for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) resources.
What is AAC?
Section titled “What is AAC?”AAC encompasses all forms of communication (other than oral speech) used to express thoughts, needs, wants, and ideas. This includes:
- Symbol systems — ARASAAC, Mulberry, Sclera, Blissymbolics
- Communication boards — low-tech printed boards to high-tech dynamic displays
- Speech-generating devices (SGDs) — dedicated hardware and software
- Mobile apps — AAC apps for iOS, Android, and web
